The church was built in 1852, replacing an earlier wooden one. The cemetery was destroyed during the 1950s, all the iconography was destroyed and the church was looted. It was then used as a museum. The iconostasis was made in 1875 by Polish craftsmen from Krakow. The church was restored and services began again in 1989.
