The cornerstone was laid in 1903; the church consecrated in 1913. The church was taken over by the Russian Orthodox Church by the communists from 1946 to 1980 when the church was closed. During Gorbachev's time the church opened, remaining Orthodox. In 1990 it was returned to the Greek Catholics. The bell tower was guilt from 2001-2002.
