The church dates back to at least 1732. It was originally a Church of St Nicholas. This building was built in 1894-1896. Upon completion Pope Leo change the name to the Translation of the Relics of St. Nicholas. The church was put under the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church from 1947-1990, when it was returned to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
