Dorfkirche St. Nikolaus

Hausen, Arnstadt Germany

Evangelical Lutheran

The Protestant village church dates to the 1100s. The former entrance, with a beautiful tympanum, is now deep below ground level as the church is in the lowest point of the village. There is a drainage ditch around the church. The fortified church was expanded in the late Middle Ages, adding a choir. The nave was raised around 1700.
