Pope Paul VI consecrated the cornerstone for the new church in July 1975; it was embedded in the walls in September 1988. The church was built in the 1980s and 90s and consecrated in 1993. This new church takes the place of the wooden one from the 1500s that is now an auxiliary chucrh to this one.
