Kosciol sw. Nikolaja

Wlodzienin Poland

[Roman Catholic]

The Gothic church, built in the 1400s, was a defensive church as there are fragments of moats, a stone wall, and arrow silits in the walls. In 1496 it was rebuilt as a castle church. It continued to serve as a castle chapel for castle owners, servants, and guests. During the liberation of Wlodzienin in 1945 the church was destroyed. Thieves plundered everything possible. The ruins havae been secured and are part of the Wlodzienin Historical Park. The building is a permanent ruin, open to the public; the church tower, a lookout.
