The oldest church was built by Cistercians in the late 1300s. It was destroyed in 1410 and rebuilt. From 1582-1592 it was Protestant. This building was built in 1748 on the site of the earlier church. The tower was rebuilt in 1862 following a fire. The bells, from 1625 and 1645, were taken to Germany in 1942; they were returned in 2008. In 2008 the church became a Marian sanctuary.
