Nikolauskapelle

Geretsried Germany

Roman Catholic

The chapel was consecrated in 1722, as a branch church belonging to the parish of Königsdorf until 1951. The chapel was first mentioned in 1315, but was rebuilt in the early 17th century due to disrepair. It was transferred to the Maria Hilf parish in 1950. Geretsried residents formed an association to preserve the chapel in 1967. Two renovation projects in 1972 and 1990 restored it to its original form. More work is planned for 2023/34 to restore the roof, renovate the facade, and repair the brick floor. The chapel is used for weddings, baptisms, and other celeb rations. A Mass is held on December 6th, St. Nicholas feast day.
