Mistlau / Kirchberg an der Jagst Germany
Evangelical Lutheran
The church was originally a monastery chapel, founded in 1282; the chapel was enlarged around 1400. Closed in 1413, the monastery reopened around 1428 when it was renovated and received more frescoed paintings. It was soon extended and became a parish church and the frescoes were whitewashed. The church, in disrepair, was replaced by a new building in 1791. The Mistlau Altar was given way in 1868 and is now in the Wurttenberg State Museum. The frescoes, dated around 1430, were discovered in 1895 and renewed.
