Kyiv, Pirogov
[Horodyshche] Ukraine
Ukrainian Orthodox
The church, from 1763 is once of the oldest wooden churches in the Chernihiv region. It was disassembled and brought from the village of Horodyshche to the Kiev Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine for restoration. The church was beginning to collapse from rotten beams and boards. It was renovated at the end of the 1800s. Reconstruction took place from 2016 to 2020. The church was built without a single nail being used; wooden logs and boards were fitted very tightly under each other. It is a unique masterpiece constructed in a rare way to keep the middle log cabin from settling. The church was re-consecrated in 2020 and is available to both pilgrims and tourists.
