"For seafarers of any religion or of none. A haven of peace in which to meditate or to pray," reads a wooden board inside the clerestoried St Nicholas Chapel in The Prince of Wales Seamen's Club. The chapel was built in 1918 as an annex to the club in gratitude for the officers and men who served in the merchant seamen during World War I. It opened in 1921. The land for the chapel was given by the Church of North India.
