The church was built in 1895, replacing a much older wooden one. It was consecrated in 1896. In 1900 the old wooden church was dismantled and rebuilt into a cemetery chapel. The church did not close during the Soviet time. During the 2000s the church was renovated, replacing the domes in 2007, lining it with siding and new windows in 2008.
