Sevastopol / Sebastopol Ukraine
Russian Orthodox
The world's first underwater Orthodox church is being built in the Black Sea, just south of Sevastoopol. The first part, a three-metre-tall cross, styled like an anchor, was put in place in 2015. The cross, 100 metres off the coast of Cape Fiolent, is the initial structure around which the church will be built. It is located at a depth of 20 metres. The church is sponsored by the Russian Orthodox Church, Moscow Patriarchate, and the motorcycle gang Night Wolves. The church will have everything that a normal church has and it is expected to draw tourists.
