Sekirnik North Macedonia
Roman Catholic
It took years, from 1999 to 2006, to overcome the opposition to building a Catholic church. Locals had argued that there weren't any Catholics and, in 1999, attacked the members when the laying of the cornerstone was attempted. Negotiations included the representatives of Macedonian Orthodox Church and government, together with the Catholic faithful. Construction began in 2006 and the church was consecrated in 2007.
