Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

Rozdilna Ukraine

Ukrainian Orthodox

The church was built in 1899-1901 by order of Emperor II. Funds came from the adjacent railway. The Emporer visited the church twice, in 1904 and 1911. The parishioners were Bulgarian and Russian. The parish abbot died in the early 1920s and the church was closed for many years. It was opened, but damaged during the German-Romanian occupation, losing its exterior grandeur. However, it remained open until the early 1950s. When the church was closed it was occupied by a library. Restoration began in 1990 and continued for six years, being consecrated in 1997.
