Stara Igren Ukraine
Ukrainian Orthodox
The church was built in 1857 by the English architect Edward Blore. It is one of the last romantic style buildings in Ukraine and the only preserved stone structure from the period. The church color has changed from green to blue, and then to golden yellow and white. It was closed in 1937 and reopened in 1941 when the German army arrived. Soviet authorities allowed services again in 1945. The church was restored in 1970 and a new iconostasis installed in 1984.
