The wooden church was built in 1655 on the mountain slope. In 1751 it had three bells and needed repairs. The church was restored in 1971-1972 and the original shingle roof was present. Photos from 2005 show that almost the entire church and bell tower are covered with sheet metal. The church was protected as an architectural monument during the Soviet time and was listed as a cultural heritage site of national importance in 2018.
