St. Nicholas Church
St Nicholas Monastery Archangel Michael on Golden Domes

Kyiv Ukraine

[Ukrainian Orthodox]

The church, built in the abbot's rroms, was consecrated in 1856. The building also contained the abbot's rooms. It was renovated and again consecrated in 1898. Soviet authorities closed the church in 1927 and the abbot's rooms were adapted for a club for proletarian students. The whole building with the church was destroyed in 1935-36. The St. Nicholas Church is the only monastery church that was not restored when St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery was rebuilt.
