Helgastadir Iceland
[Roman Catholic]
The church was present before the end of the 14th century. The Helgastaðabók with the life of St. Nicholas, illustrated with three full page illuminations and fifteen capitals, belonged to the church in Helgastadir. The book was in private ownership before 1659 and is now in the Royal Library in Stockholm. The church closed in 1872 and the congregation combined with the sub-parish at Einarsstadir. The parish itself was abolished in 1907 and the congregation transferred to Grenjadarstadur..
