Roman Catholic
In 1621 the church was completed as part of the Jesuit College. Following the expulsion of the Jesuits, in 1778 the Parish of St. Nicholas and St. Therese was established in the church. This took the place of the earlier, small, St. Nicholas Church. It was popularly known as "Nikloskierch" until the 1900s. In 1801 the dedication was changed to St. Peter and it became "Notre-Dame" in 1848. The church became a cathedral in 1870. It was enlarged in the 1930s.
