Blessing of the Candy Cane Staff

Celebrant:

Gracious and loving God,
we give you thanks for the example of your servant,
Nicholas, Bishop of Myra.
We rejoice that he is a holy symbol of joy for people of many lands.
We pray that Nicholas may be our example too,
coming to us as our friend as we prepare again to meet Jesus.
May these candy canes, shaped like the staff of Nicholas,
be a sign of your love.

Amen.

Welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you,
and give and receive like Nicholas of Myra.

And may God grant you harmony with one another;
May Christ Jesus fill you with joy and peace in believing;
