The Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation instituted the Order of Saint Nicholas Archbishop of Myra in Lycia the Wonderworker in 2004. It is awarded to Russian and foreign citizens for outstanding service in spiritual teaching and education of the younger generation, in Orthodox missionary work, strengthening Christian morality, and for generosity in charitable work to benefit people needing assistance.

The awards are given in ten grades. For the lowest prayer for the awardee's health will be offered in an Orthodox cathedral for one year. For the highest award, prayer will be offered in one hundred Russian cloisters for five years.

Awards have been given to naval officers, church officials, professors, artists, and others noted for their charitable acts.
