Ingredients
12 Nutter Butter Cookies
5-8 oz. Baker's white chocolate, melted
Red decorating sugar
Mini chocolate chips for eyes
Red cinnamon candies for nose
Equipment
Small tray
Wax paper
Small dish (custard cup, ramekin, etc), to melt white chocolate, needs to be narrow enough to allow adequate depth to dip the cookies (it is easier to dip the cookies if the larger amount of chocolate is used)
Small whisk or spoon
Small soft pastry brush, to brush stray sugar off cookie
Flat toothpick, use large end to "draw" crosses on miters
Line tray with wax paper. Melt white chocolate in small dish (1-2 minutes full power in microwave, squares will retain shape, stir until completely melted). Dip both ends into chocolate, leaving center section uncoated. Place on wax paper lined tray. Sprinkle red sugar on one end—using a spoon is easier to control sugar placement. Wait until chocolate is set (placing in refrigerator speeds this up). After chocolate is set, use pastry brush to brush any extra red sugar off the uncoated part of the cookie. Reheat the remaining white chocolate and use to attach mini chips for eyes and the red candy nose (putting a dot of chocolate on the cookie is easier to attach the nose). Use the wide flat end of a toothpick to "draw" the crosses on the miters.
