Adapted from Halyna McEvoy, Josyf Cardinal Slipyj School, Etobicoke, Canada
Assignment made: Last Monday in November
Timeline: Three weeks
Project due: Middle of December
Date projects will be displayed, either in school, church or another location
Comparison between St. Nicholas and Santa Claus or St. Nicholas in one country compared with St. Nicholas from other countries.
Students will have access to selected materials in class. Students must also be responsible for supplementing with any additional information required to complete their projects.
Good resource is the Saint Nicholas Centre website.
Students may choose any hard-copy format for their project. For example, traditional bristol board layout, shape booklets, a reference booklet, a student activity kit, story book etc. Be creative!
Include visual materials, maps, photos of churches or artifacts, legends, trivia, interactive forms of text, student activities, and favourite poem(s).
We are planning to display these projects at _____________________________________.
If school has an ethnic identity, the topic may relate particularly to St. Nicholas in that tradition. If another language is part of the curriculum, there may be a requirement that a portion of the written work be in that language.
