The Story of Saint Nicholas

by Nancy Jamrog

Saint Nicholas
Santa Santa, Santa, Santa Claus,
Santa, Santa, Santa Claus
Through sacred song and story, your holy legend grew.
For a life of self-less giving, today we honor you.
Two centuries after Jesus birth born in Turkey by the sea,
Raised by your Uncle Nicholas a priest you soon would be.
Three young girls needed dowries in order to be wed.
Down the chimney dropped three bags of coin, and not a word was said.
Saved from a storm in Jerusalem, in Myra thanks you gave.
The Bishops saw you in their dreams and a Bishop you became.
Imprisoned by the Romans, a gift of love your goal,
You suffered for our Jesus, a truly Christian soul.
You fed the starving people grain, you saved three boys from death.
As famine spread throughout the land, with miracles you blessed.
A Patron Saint of children, ocean voyagers a guide,
Within your bones and spirit many miracles abide.
We salute you dear Saint Nicholas on this your day of days.
God give us strength to be like you, and follow in your ways.
Since days of old throughout the world your name’s in every house,
Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, and our own dear Santa Claus.
Through sacred song and story your holy legend grew.
For a life of self-less giving, today we honor you!
Santa Santa, Santa, Santa Claus,
Santa, Santa, Santa Claus
