Saint Nicolas Paper Figure
Make this delightful Saint Nicolas from France using crisp cardstock so he will last for years. Cardstock doesn't fade like construction paper and makes a nice stiff figure. Single sheet cardstock in various colors and textures is available with scrapbooking supplies in craft stores.
Materials
- White cardstock
- Purple or red cardstock
- Light tan cardstock
- Dark brown cardstock
- Decorative gold paper
- Adhesive: Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive (available from Amazon) or glue stick
Equipment
- Scissors
- Fine felt tip pen to make eyes
Directions
- Print the PDF on white cardstock
- Cut out all the pieces
- Use "colored" pieces as templates to cut out the colored pieces
- Next glue the pieces to the white background in this order
- Put a glue stripe most of the way down in just the center of the large purple piece
- Large gold piece down the center of the purple piece
- Black shoes: slip up under the purple piece
- Arms: just a bit of glue at the top and slip under the purple piece
- Head, straight or tilted
- Beard and mustache
—place white pieces upside down so any remaining black lines won't show - Glue gold pieces to the miter, trim edges to fit
- Place miter on head
- Crozier on hand and base
- Make eyes with felt tip pen
- Clip dotted line slits on the base; slide together so Saint Nicolas will stand.
To keep Saint Nicolas for future use, open the base and store flat.
