Saint Nicolas Paper Figure

Saint Nicolas

Make this delightful Saint Nicolas from France using crisp cardstock so he will last for years. Cardstock doesn't fade like construction paper and makes a nice stiff figure. Single sheet cardstock in various colors and textures is available with scrapbooking supplies in craft stores.

Materials

  • White cardstock
  • Purple or red cardstock
  • Light tan cardstock
  • Dark brown cardstock
  • Decorative gold paper
  • Adhesive: Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive (available from Amazon) or glue stick

Equipment

  • Scissors
  • Fine felt tip pen to make eyes

Directions

  • Print the PDF on white cardstock
  • Cut out all the pieces
  • Use "colored" pieces as templates to cut out the colored pieces
  • Next glue the pieces to the white background in this order
    • Put a glue stripe most of the way down in just the center of the large purple piece
    • Large gold piece down the center of the purple piece
    • Black shoes: slip up under the purple piece
    • Arms: just a bit of glue at the top and slip under the purple piece
    • Head, straight or tilted
    • Beard and mustache
place white pieces upside down so any remaining black lines won't show
    • Glue gold pieces to the miter, trim edges to fit
    • Place miter on head
    • Crozier on hand and base
  • Make eyes with felt tip pen
  • Clip dotted line slits on the base; slide together so Saint Nicolas will stand.

To keep Saint Nicolas for future use, open the base and store flat.
