Trnava

The statue of St Nicholas is on the St Joseph plague pillar on St Nicholas Square in front of the St Nicholas Basilica. It was built in 1731 to commemorate the end of the plague epidemic that swept across all Europe. St Joseph is on the top; the other saints, besides St Nicholas, are St Rochus, St Rosalia, St Sebastian, and Karol Boromejsky. The pillar incorporates a street lamp that was a place of healing prayer during the plague.
