Saint Nicholas Miracles

Window in Ettington Park designed by Evie Hone

This beautiful stained glass St. Nicholas window is in the Shirley Mortuary Chapel, Ettington Park, Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, England. After a St Nicholas altar was placed in the 12th century Church of the Holy Trinity, the church was also known as St. Nicholas Church. The church was replaced by a new one built in Upper Ettington. The Shirley family then used the church as a mortuary chapel. The St. Nicholas window, by noted Irish artist Evie Hone, is in the mortuary chapel, the church's former south transept. The window was installed in 1948-49 after medieval glass that had been somehow taken from Winchester College Chapel and had been installed here was removed and returned to Winchester College Chapel.
