Saint Nicholas, Defender of the Poor

Gentle shepherd of God’s people,
Faithful servant of the Lord,
You defended truth with courage,
Guided hearts by deed and word.
In the night your brought God mercy,
Hope to those in darkest need,
Quiet acts of holy kindness
Sowed the light of Christ indeed.

Saint Nicholas, defender of the poor,
Lead us to Christ forevermore.
Teach our hands to give in love,
Make our hearts like his above.
Holy Bishop shining bright,
Guide us in God’s truth and light.

Friend of Children, shield of sailors,
Helper to the lost and weak,
In your life God’s grace was living,
In our care the humble speak.
By your bold and steadfast witness,
Faith in Christ grew strong and true;
May we walk your path of goodness,
Serving God in all we do.
