Who is this, for whom we sing?
At this season, good news brings,
Miracles, the legends bold—
Chant his name, both young and oldNicholas, Nicholas of Myra
Nicholas, Nicholas of MyraLoving children, students saved;
From his wealth to all he gave.
Down the chimney, bags of gold—
Chant his name, both young and oldNicholas, Nicholas of Myra
Nicholas, Nicholas of MyraPilgrims now the name revere
As we hold his memory dear.
Still his wondrous story told—
Chant his name, both young and oldNicholas, Nicholas of Myra
Nicholas, Nicholas of MyraCalms the seas, the grain increased,
From injustice all released,
Three glad daughters won't be sold—
Chant his name, both young and oldNicholas, Nicholas of Myra
Nicholas, Nicholas of Myra

The text refers to the legends of the three daughters saved from being sold as slaves; the three pickled boys/students brought back to life; the miracle of the grain; freeing of unjustly accused soldiers and saving the sailors from the tempest. Myra is the name of the city in Asia Minor, now Turkey, where Nicholas was bishop.
